Hey there!

This, as some of you know, is an original character of mine, Perrin McPowell. I have decided to redesign him a bit due to serious difficulties in continuity. Most of the changes are in the shape of his head, which is now a more natural round than the former "blocky" look.

For those of you who don't know, Perrin is a psychic specializing in telekinesis (he can lift objects with his mind). I call this image a "proof of concept" because I was putting two things in motion: cheap backgrounds (I suck at backgrounds, so I'm trying to find shortcuts) and those crazy eye symbols on each floating object.

The eye symbol represents that a telekinetic has a grasp on an object - I'm tentatively calling it "the grasp." I decided that simply putting a glowy outline around something that is being lifted with a telekinetic's mind just seemed over-used, so I'm looking to find a unique take on it. Plus, this implies that each item is lifted by a single point as opposed to being picked up from the core of the item...if that makes any sense.

Anyway, yay for Perrin's redesign! Yay for the first ever Illustrator-created image of Perrin! Yay for other stuff, too!

Adobe Illustrator CS, about 4.5 hours total including the sketch.

i know i keep on saying it but i'm just crazy about your style. totally. you clearly are one of my absolute favourite artists ever and everytime you post a new artwork, you surprise me by making me love you even more, when i thought it wouldn't be humanly possible anymore

Perrin is an amazing character and actually what you call "cheap" backgrounds work perfectly to me with your style! it reminds me of one of my masters' work, Chuck Jones
