Sumo Bunny

Hey guys!

So, this is Sumo Bunny. He really just started out as a doodle and became a finished character. He's fun and easy to draw, unlike most of my characters. ^_^

The odd shading technique was actually an experiment. I was going to do this piece in Photoshop, but when I realized I suck terribly at lineart in Photoshop, I moved over to Illustrator. I decided to try and go for a sort of watercolor look in Illustrator.

Obviously, it didn't work out the way I had planned.

The biggest problem is with the "texture" (well, pattern). It was meant to give it it a more organic look, and instead makes the bunny look like he's half covered in chicken pox or something.

So the attempt at faux-watercolor in Illustrator was a bust this time. I'll try it again in the future, with more photos and stuff to reference from (I was simply working from my brain on this one). What's important was that I had fun making it, I learned some new things, and it only took me about 2.5 hours total.
