I suppose, as long as the integrity of the image is still intact, I would have no problem. Most of the time, it's not an issue. I have very rarely seen images completely ruined by low resolution.
The image doesn't have to be high res, just big enough for me to see some detail. If I can't see the image clearly or it's damn near the size of a thumbnail (which I have seen) then I won't fave it.
My preferred sizing is between 800 and 1200 pixels on all sides. I like images to fill most of the screen. Except in the case of comics which should be larger or sketches which can be smaller. I don't like to have to strain to see details, so my general belief is the more detail, the bigger it should be.
If they're super tiny, then yes, it's very off-putting(in ANY medium). But it's not like they have to be so large they barely fit on the screen xD just, big enough to appreciate!
It depends on what you mean by 'low res' exactly. I know that I don't like looking at drawn or painted images uploaded as a bad photograph. It's immediately off-putting.
